Inception

In this initial phase, with
the customer, we identify the challenge facing the organization,
and identify and refine the areas requiring change or improvement.
In any new product development, the functional specification is a living document that changes with customer
feedback or market demands. S5 works closely with the customer to create a functional specification document,
ensuring this document is kept current, relevant, and and is available to every team member.
Throughout the project, we emphasize he importance of communications by making extensive use of collaborative intranet, allowing your
company to benefit from every team member's knowledge and research.
Elaboration
(Identify the Solution)
In this stage we refine problem areas identified in the Inception
phase and identify technologies available to meet the challenge. A high-level design of the technical system is then conceptualized and reviewed by the
customer.

Construction
(Create the Solution)
This phase involves developing of the system according to the design laid out in the Elaboration
phase. This phase also includes the Quality Assurance (QA). Designs formulated in the previous phase are refined during implementation while maintaining focus on the functional requirements developed in
the Inception Phase.
Transition
and Support
Most projects eventually make the transition to the customer's engineering team for maintenance. We begin transferring knowledge early in the
project, involving the customer's team in design and architecture through regular status meetings. As the the project nears completion, we transfer knowledge of system architecture through
training, code documentation, and comprehensive design documents.
In this phase clients may use the functional specifications to ensure that the resulting software/hardware system is built to customer expectations.
